Someone put Blessing in a tight halter when she was a filly and never took it off. As she grew, it embedded itself in her bones, mangling her beautiful face. By the time we got the call to rescue this three-year-old sorrel Quarter Horse, her wounds were so infected that we thought she wouldn’t make it.
Fortunately, we got to her just in time and brought her to Miracle Ranch — 400+ peaceful acres where our herd of horses, miniature horses and donkeys can finally heal from their past abuses. Truth is, Blessing couldn’t have beat the odds without the generous support of our equine-loving community.
Blessing’s training continues to this day and she’s growing more confident. Due to the physical and emotional damage she has suffered, Blessing will always be with us here at Miracle Ranch. Make a tax-deductible donation to help Blessing and the rest of the 300+ equines we care for every day, all year long.
About Habitat for Horses
Habitat for Horses is the nation’s largest non-breed-specific equine rescue operation. Located in Alvin, Texas, our 434 acres of grassy pastureland serves as a safehaven for all types of horses, including former racing horses, wild mustangs, miniature horses, donkeys and mules.
We Lead With Love.
We go at their pace, and listen to what they tell us.
When a rescued equine steps off our trailer, we are slow but thorough. Gently leading her into our medical barn, we perform a full assessment of her condition: get her Henneke Score, make plans for the vet, farrier and dentist, and work out specialized next steps depending on what she needs.
On average, it takes more than $5,000 to restore a horse who was abused or malnourished. It also takes time — several months or sometimes years. Thanks to the support of our incredible community of Miracle Makers, we provide everything an equine could ever need or want.
Some horses fully recover, regain their trust in humans, and are eligible for adoption into loving homes that we personally vet. Other equines, like Blessing, decide they’ve seen enough. Miracle Ranch is their forever home, and here they can just be a horse.
