Rescue a Rainbow - 10 Horses You'll Love
Here at Habitat for Horses we see so many amazing horses come through our gates. Little horses and big horses, sorrels and bays and greys. We take in horses in their golden years and foals with little spindly legs and big eyes. They each have a story. They are our Rainbow Rescues. Our hope is that they will each end up in a loving home that gives them all the tlc they so rightly deserve. We want to show you the unique beauty and magic of all these horses…but that would take all day! So here are 10 Rainbow Rescues to give you a taste of what you’ve been missing!
1. Shane
Shane is a precious paint. He came to us a blank slate and really took to his training. He quickly became a trainer favorite and will ride on the road, in the pasture with other horses and doesn’t mind dogs one bit. He is in his prime at 18 years old and is ready to go to a good home!
2. Lana
Lana is a beautiful bay that will ride through water and isn’t afraid to be a part of the action! She is 9 years old. She is ready to brush up her training and start a new life.
3. Chance
Chance is just shy of a year old but what he lacks in years, he makes up for in personality. Chance is an orphan, his mother died not longer after he was born. We vowed to give him the best chance as a happy and healthy life. He is a special part of our rainbow and we know he will makes someone’s life even better for having him in it!
4. Lariat
Lariat has a lot of pep! She is 19 years old and stands at 15 hands high. She does well with other horses and humans. She could be a good match for someone looking for a rideable horse with some get up and go.
5. Layla
Layla is 3 years old and much like human teenagers, she enjoys hanging out with her friends. She would like a good buddy in an adoptive home!
6. Disco
When disco first came to us, he was standoffish and skittish. Since then he has grown to seek out people and other horses. He has a beautiful soul and is waiting for that special someone to see his special shade of rainbow and take hime home. Disco is 13 years old.
7. Whisper
Whisper continues to amaze. For such a young horse (3 years old), she has a patient and calm manner about her. She leads well and followed direction like a dream. Whoever adopts her will certainly be gaining a true treasure.
8. Mary Lou
Mary Lou is a true angel. She came to us malnourished and neglected. However, she still radiates trust and a peace. Our trainer has started working with her and we know she will be a blessing to all who are lucky enough to know her. She is just 1 1/2 years old.
9. Bandit
Bandit is a funny fella. He is 9 years old and has a pretty mild temperament. His spotted face gives him a unique look that everyone enjoys. We can’t wait to see him in a forever home.
10. Oliver “Ollie”
Ollie almost didn’t make it. His malnourished mother couldn’t provide him with the milk he needed to survive so we had to step in and help. Luckily, both mother and foal survived. Now Ollie is going on 2 years old and is ready to find a home of his own.
