Paco - Habitat for Horse's Donkey Mascot

Rescue Story

Smokey Culver, the Cowboy Poet, is one of Habitat for Horse’s volunteers and biggest fans. Often on his Facebook page, he talks about the day to day life of a horse rescue. It is hard work to be a volunteer at the ranch but it is fun too! And you get to meet Paco the Donkey. Paco stands out from all the other rescued donkeys at the ranch. He is a real character who comes right up to you …of course he is looking for carrots but who couldn’t love that face!

Our ranch will be back open to the public on Monday. That EHV1 scare had us locked down for a while. Paco is a permanent resident here, but we have plenty of other donkeys, minis, mules and of course horses that are looking for their forever home. Don’t forget to call first during office hours to find out more about adopting your perfect horse, mini, mule or burro and to set up a time to visit. Phone: Local: 409-935-0277. Our Office Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm CDT Monday – Friday.

And today is a wonderful day to take a picture of your horse…wearing something GREEN! Support Habitat for Horses by doing just that and upload it to our St Patrick’s Day photo contest. Click on the tab on our Facebook page (the one that says St Patty’s Photo Contest to find out more! ~ HfH
