Happy Easter - The horses here at Habitat are all ears today!

News

We hope you are having a lovely Easter Day. After church, there is the meal lovingly made for everyone to share. In many homes, the Easter Bunny made a visit, hiding Easter Eggs around the yard for all the kids to find. The Easter Bunny stopped by here, the horses were busily eating the carrots left for them – we didn’t even have time to take a picture!

In celebration of the season, we have donned a few of our adoptable horses with some cute bunny ears and a mini with a bunny nose – Photoshop only – no horses were made to actually put them on.

Chino

Chino is a stunning sorrel gelding. He stands just a bit more than 15 hands, has a calm, gentle personality – he has a sight problem with his right eye – our trainers have been working with him on the issue. He would make a great pleasure horse for someone who is a very experienced rider. And he is adoptable now!

Cooper

Cooper is the most cutest mini-paint you will ever see. One look at those big brown eyes, and you will fall in love. He would make a great addition to any family!

Choctaw

A finer looking sorrel Quarter Horse you will never see! Choctaw actually had a news article on his story in the Galveston Daily News. He came to Habitat with several other horses, severely underweight. Now he is a handsome fellow, ready to ride and looking for a new home! Here is being ridden by Smokey Culver – a nationally known Cowboy Poet and Habitat for Horses advocate/volunteer.

Keep Our Herd Cool this Summer

Texas heat is hard on our entire herd, but especially for our seniors like Jericho here. Older equines struggle with regulating their body temperature, have trouble breathing, and can become dehydrated quickly. The cost of caring for them adds up fast — can you send a gift and help us prep for the season?
