Temperament:   Fred is a sweet horse with a mischievous side to him.  A typical young TB, he is full of energy.

Interaction with horses:   Fred is very playful.   He is always trying to get someone to play with him but settles for his jolly ball.  He is not a submissive horse so he does challenge the pecking order all the time.

Interaction with people:   Coming off the track Fred had a complete lack of manners.  We have been working on this and he is starting to learn boundaries and manners.  He has a great personality and really wants to please you once he figures out what is being asked of him.

History:   Fred had an injury that ended his racing career.  His owners wanted to make sure that he never ended up in a bad home or the slaughterhouse so they donated him to HFH to give him a great future.

Training / abilities:   Fred has only been trained for racing.  He will need to be started from scratch for his new job but he is very intelligent.  He is a beautiful mover and very agile.  I believe he would do very well as an Eventing horse or jumper.  With his movement he would do well in dressage also.

Physical problems / health issues:   Fred had a bony growth on his pastern that was rubbing his suspensory ligament.  He was prescribed a 1 year layoff by the vet (which ends in March), and an end to his racing career.  The vet’s prognosis is no restrictions other than racing.

Experience level required to work with this horse:   Experienced.   Preferably experience with OTT TB’s.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? Reared? Kicked? Bitten? Other?   Fred does bite, but has gotten much better now that we have been working on his manners.  It was more of a game to him than anything else.  He just needs to have his energy channeled into something productive.

Ground handling: Catch?  Yes   Lead?   Yes   Tie? Yes   Trailer? Yes   Clip? Trim Feet?  Yes   Bathe?  Yes

Special needs:   Lots of attention and a new job!
