Temperament: Tuesday was very sweet and cooperative when she first came in with her wounds from a dog attack.  Even then, she had soulful blue eyes that would just melt your heart.  Now that she's a healthy gal, she's still as sweet and interested in being loved on.  She loves attention and is just one of those horses that doesn't come along that often.  Personality plus and great looks!

Physical problems / health issues: Tuesday is a healthy girl and ready to move on to her forever home.  Although she has recovered wonderfully from her injuries, Tuesday will always have stiffness in her right stifle.  She walks, trots, and canters in both directions and although her stiffness is apparent, it does not seem to bother her.  This will prevent her from ever being a performance horse or participating in strenuous riding activities.  Tuesday doesn’t know this, however, and thinks she is so beautiful that she should win all of the prizes!!!

Interaction with horses:  She is currently in a herd with four other mares.  She’s in the top end of the herd most of the time, and can be dominant in some herd situations.  Mainly, she will be dominant when food is involved.  For example, when the herd is turned out with small hay piles, she will move from pile to pile to decide which one is best and push others off.  Sometimes she will do this aggressively.

Interaction with people: Tuesday is very people oriented and has good ground manners.  In spite of pain and discomfort, she never kicked or bit when being treated for her wounds.

History:  Tuesday was donated after being attacked by dogs.  Her rear end was mauled. They tore up the area near her vulva and between her legs, her left stifle and down both her legs.  She had a previous injury at the coronet band on the left front and this might have spurred the dogs to attack her.  The vet clinic indicated that horses usually recover well from these sorts of injuries, it just looked absolutely horrible. They were correct, and she's recovered remarkably.  Tuesday was also 5-6 months pregnant at the time of her injury and had a beautiful palomino filly on 4/23/05.

Training / abilities: Tuesday spent a long time recovering from her wounds but fortunately harbors no bad feelings towards dogs and does fine around the 2 big labs she currently lives with.  She is now in light training at her foster home and is being ridden.  She is still quite green, but direct reins and easily walks, trots, stops, and backs.  She’s still unbalanced at the canter, and is more willing to canter to the left.  Cantering to the right is a bitter harder because of the stiffness in her rear right leg.  More than anything, she needs mileage.  She will be a wonderful horse for someone looking for a great equine companion to do light arena work and fun trail rides!!

Experience level required to work with this horse: Advanced beginner on the ground.  She still needs at least an intermediate rider due to her training level.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? No.  Bitten? No. Other? Tuesday will pin her ears at feeding time.  It’s as if she gets mad at the food, so she pins her ears before diving into it.  She has never made any move to pin her ears at a person.

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes Clip? Yes Trim Feet? Yes (we’ve put shoes on her in front to give an old crack a chance to grow out.  It’s nearly gone).  Bathe? Yes

Special needs: Tuesday needs protection from the sun with sunscreen and a fly mask during very hot months with her fair skin.  She tends to burn on her muzzle and around her eyes.  She's very cooperative when you put sunscreen on her.

Other comments: Everyone who meets Tuesday just falls in love with her.  She is striking looking with her long nearly white mane and blue eyes. She’s a real gem!  Great looks, calm personality, affectionate.  She’ll make an all around great pleasure horse.
