Trudy

Color: Flea-bitten grey
Markings: Blaze
Arrival Date
: January 2007
Location: Guthrie, OK

Temperament: Trudy is a shy horse, but is coming around and getting to be friendly with people. She is a nice horse, but will try to get the number of her handler. With time, she will gain more trust with people. She is a clown and a pistol and anyone who enjoys a challenge will love her.  I have never experienced an Arabian before, so I don't know if this is what they are like, but she has tremendous personality!

Physical problems / health issues: Trudy has a club foot caused by her hoof being nearly severed. She swings the bad foot out to the side when walking but at a trot or when she is playing it is not noticeable. However, once her burst of energy is over, she limps badly.

Interaction with horses: Good, but she tries to be dominant.

Interaction with people: Good, she likes to play hard to get, but once you get her, she is a doll.

History: Trudy was found wandering the street in Texas.

Training / abilities: Unknown, probably broodmare, leads well after catching but not easy to catch.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Advanced beginner.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? Yes, at other horses. Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes, but not easily. Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Yes Bathe? Yes

Special needs: Patience and a sense of humor, a farrier that understands how hard it is for her to stand on that foot while being trimmed.

Other comments: Trudy is a joy and has a love of life that belies any injury. She is all heart, if she were a racehorse, she would win every time. She likes people but she doesn't want people to know she likes people. She is the first one to greet me when I come out the back door and the first one to run me over when she wants to get somewhere else. She is beautiful and fun to have around and she keeps the geldings on their toes.
