Summer Star
Breed:  Quarter Horse
Sex: Mare
DOB:  2002
Height: 15.1 hh
Color: Sorrel
Markings: Large star, left front coronet
Location: Hitchcock, TX
Adoption Fee:  $250

Temperament: Summer Star was standoffish when she first came to the ranch but is getting curious now.  She is slow to trust people.

Physical problems / health issues: None.  Healthy, stocky, muscular horse.

Interaction with horses: Gets along well in a large mixed herd.  Likes to hang with the small group of horses she came to the ranch with.

Interaction with people: Summer Star is timid and skittish around people.  She prefers people to be quiet and to move slowly around her.  She will not seek out people but if you go to her, she will stand there for pets and attention.  You need to be persistent, though, but she is worth it.

History:

Training / abilities: Summer Star can be haltered and led.  She didn’t like a saddle pad being placed on her back so her training will have to start with the basics beginning with trust in her trainer.  She has never been taught anything.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Intermediate to advanced.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes Lead? Yes Tie? Yes, unless she is left alone too long and gets scared Trailer? Yes Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Must be sedated Bathe? Unknown

Special needs: Needs to find a person or family who will teach her to trust people.

Other comments: Summer Star’s photos do not do her justice.  She is very pretty and she is darker than the photos show.
