Temperament: Snickers is cute, smart, sensitive, and full of energy.  She reads the mood of the person she is with and adapts her behavior to theirs.  She is very aware of what is going on around her and often appears to be on guard.  She is cooperative with the farrier, she loves to be groomed, and she hops right up into a trailer.

Physical problems / health issues: None known.

Interaction with horses: Snickers is currently in a small herd of two geldings, a mare, and a donkey and gets along just fine with all.

Interaction with people: Snickers feels and reacts to the person she is with.  If you are calm, she is calm.  If she senses you are afraid, she is right there with you and will panic.  She is friendly and will approach you in a pasture because she is curious and wants to know what you are doing and would like be petted if you have the time.  Over the last two years she has learned to trust people; prior to that time she had been handled very little.  Her foster family has gotten her past the issues she had with her ear and head being touched.

History: Snickers came into HfH care from a case in Wharton, Texas.  Her ear was split so her owner could identify her in a pasture.  She still had auction tags attached to her tail.  She was traumatized and untouchable.

Training / abilities: Snickers has had someone on her back in the past but she is not at all comfortable under saddle and needs more groundwork before she can be ridden.  Her foster family is concentrating on this with her and thinks that once she is solid on the ground, she will transition to saddle just fine.  When she will panics now, she stays in place and does not bolt anymore.  She is explosive but her bursts of energy are evasive, not aggressive.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Experienced.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? Yes, but not recently Reared? Yes, but not recently Kicked? Yes, but not recently Bitten? No Other? Has bolted, but not recently

Ground handling: Catch? Yes Lead? Yes Tie? Unknown Trailer? Yes Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Yes Bathe? Yes

Special needs:

Other comments: Snickers has made a lot of progress in the last two years and is ready to join a family who will continue her training and put all her energy into being an awesome riding horse.  She is pining for a forever family to love and take care of her.  Her foster family feels that she is ready for the next step and will blossom with attention lavished on her.
