Horses need time to adjust when moved to new surroundings. We highly recommend you visit, spend time with the equines and evaluate the equine before making a decision"

Explain overall health:
Smitty is pigeon-toed, but with a proper farrier trim this is not a problem. He is an easy keeper and can gain weight fast if overfed. He is very food motivated. |

Explain overall socialization:
Smitty likes pets and grooming as long as you come to him slowly and he can check out the tools you will use on him. He needs time to understand things and realize they will not harm him. He can startle but instead of running, he will freeze. He likes mares and will sometimes keep passive geldings from “his” mares. He can be dominant at feeding time so separate feeding is advised. |

Explain manners:
Smitty has good ground manners. He needs to learn to trust strangers but if he knows you, he is fine. He needs work on standing still for the farrier and getting a bath. If you show him the fly spray and assure him it won’t eat him, he can be sprayed. Ditto tubes of wormer meds. |

Explain overall training:
Smitty needs an intermediate to advanced rider since he does not have a lot of time under saddle. He has the potential to be an excellent trail horse but may not be good for very hard riding due to being pigeon-toed. |
