“These assessments are based on how these horses respond in their current environment and any change in their current environment, riders, diet, etc could have an effect on the horses' immediate performance. Horses need time to adjust when moved to new surroundings. We highly recommend you visit, spend time with the equines and evaluate the equine before making a decision"

Explain overall training:  Shayne's job was as a trail horse prior to coming to HfH.  She is a small horse and cannot carry a heavy person but would be ideal for a child or light adult.  Update June 2011:: Shayne has made excellent progress over the past two weeks. She was ridden for the first time on May 28th and we had a little bit of "crow-hopping" in the first couple of minutes, then she settled down. She was ridden for 45 minutes in the arena, at a walk and did very well. On the 30th, she was ridden again in the arena and this time she was asked to move into a trot and responded well. On June 3rd she was ridden outside the arena for the first time. She was a bit nervous at first; however, she calmed down in just a couple of minutes and did very well at a walk and a trot. On June 4th she was ridden in the pasture for the first time with other horses and she did great. She walked and trotted when asked. She was much calmer with other horses. She is very calm when being caught, brushed and tacked. She is getting better with each ride and will be ready for prospective adopters the weekend of June 18th.

Explain history if known:    Shayne was in a trail riding program before coming into HfH care.
