Rosaleen
Breed:
Thoroughbred Registered?: Sex:
Mare DOB:
2000
Height:
15.2
Color: Dark Bay
Markings:
Strip white socks both
hinds Location:
Seymour, TX
Adoption Fee:
$250
Temperament:
Rosaleen is a very
willing mare with a lot
of try. Her ground
manners are good in that
she is easy to catch and
leads well with very
little pushiness. She
is what I would call
very ready for final
training.
Physical problems /
health issues:
Rosaleen is doing great,
she’s an easy keeper.
Her wounds are healing
on her back hocks.
Right one is completely
healed. She has a knot
on her right back shin,
but it is really hard
and doesn't move.
Doesn't seem to hurt
her, but she is real
touchy with her back
legs. Must be an old
wound.
Interaction with horses:
Middle of the herd.
Not aggressive at all
towards others but will
push forward for treats
and feed.
Interaction with people:
Rosaleen is a bit
indifferent towards
people but readily
accepts love and
attention. She has
never acted aggressive
towards me in any way.
When I come to the
pasture she always
greets me to see if I
have any treats. She
doesn’t move far away
and seems curious as to
what Im doing. When I
was fixing the fence,
she constantly inspected
my tools and my work.
History:
Rosaleen was found as a
stray in around the
Austin area and gave
birth to a lovely little
filly shortly after
arrival. She was
adopted by her foster
but had to be returned
due to loss of
pasture.
Training / abilities:
Rosaleen is a stunning
and exceptionally
healthy mare. She moves
out well and has a
beautiful stride. After
I got her, I tacked her
out and got on her. She
accepted the saddle and
bridle without incident
and offered no
resistance to me until I
asked her to trot at
which time she became
confused and upset and
sent me into the dirt.
It was not her fault, I
pushed her too fast.
She does not know her
leg cues and what you
are asking of her, but
she is not resistant to
learning and picked up
very quickly to move
away from pressure. She
will definitely need
additional training
under saddle, as she
still reacts with fear
to being asked to move
forward. She will
accept the tack, and
allow you to get on, but
she will need work for
more than that. Her
action and health
indicates she could be
exceptional mount for
someone to put some time
into her.
Experience level
required to work with
this horse:
Advanced Beginner on the
ground. Advanced for
training purposes but
only if intending to
ride her. I suspect
after 30 days of
training, she can be
ridden by an
Intermediate or Advanced
Beginner.
