Temperament: Robert is an intelligent and spirited young horse, just like his sister, Simply Special.

Physical problems / health issues: None known.

Interaction with horses: Robert has been separated from his sister and is now running with his foster mom’s own horses, and another young foster, Woody. They all love him, and he gets along great with them.

Interaction with people: Shy, but getting much better every day.

History: Robert was born into this organization, his mother was awarded as part of a seizure.

Training / abilities: Robert comes in for breakfast with the others, and stays in all day until after dinner, then is turned out to graze in a twenty five acre pasture. They all have free access to the barn and come and go as they please. He just follows along.  Redford is doing great with his training.  He is definitely a show horse!  Lots of presence and beauty.  He is still wary of anything new.  He will need a home that wants to give him a job on a regular basis, he’s probably not the type of horse that you can put out to pasture for 6 months and forget about.  He will need more attention than most.  The training is coming along fine, but the trust is still taking time.  Redford is still fearful of people.  He just tolerates.  He really needs his own person to work with him every day, and have a lot of patience.  I do see slight improvements all the time, i.e. putting his turnout blanket on has been quite scary for him, up until JUST recently, walking up to him holding a lead rope or halter definitely not on his agenda until just a few days ago, entering his stall and trying to groom him another no no, until just a few days ago.  All of a sudden, some of the little things do not worry him anymore.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Experienced.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? no  Reared? no  Kicked? no  Bitten? no Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Can be shy about it Lead? yes Tie? yes, but he did sit back a couple of times. To be fair, he was tied to the stall of another horse and he got spooked.  We tied him to a tree and he is fine. Trailer? yes  Clip? Have not tried. Trim Feet? Yes.  Bathe? Yes, if you start slowly.

Special needs:

Other comments: I am sure Redford could get over all of his fear in time and with the right person.  He is really a stunning horse and an opportunity for someone with experience who wants a beautiful show horse.  He is just 4 y.o. this year.  Arabians take lots of time to mature.
