Sex: Mare
DOB: 1993~
Height
Color: Flea Bitten Grey
Markings:
Location: Schertz, TX
Adoption Fee:

Temperament:  Ribbon is calm and absolutely loves attention.

Physical problems / health issues:  According to the vet, severe malnutrition, anemia, and wave mouth.  She is on a rehab diet.

Interaction with horses: Ribbon gets along with other horses very well.  She is in a pasture with other “red hat equines”, and even still, she is at the bottom of the pecking order.

Interaction with people:   Ribbon is tremendously social with people.   She will hug you when you brush her, and look soulfully from her beautiful eyes.    Even as starved as she is, she will lift her head up from grazing on good green grass when being brushed, as if to savor every minute of kind hands touching her.

History: Ribbon was seized by law enforcement and awarded to Habitat for Horses. .

Training / abilities: Has not been assessed yet.     We know she leads, loads, ties and stands very well for the farrier.  She stands patiently for baths and fly spray and grooming, so she probably is a definitely “been there, done that” kind of mare.  We do know that most recently, she was used as a brood mare.

Experience level required to work with this horse:  beginner on the ground.

Has this horse ever: Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? No. Bitten? no. Other? N/A

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Lead? Yes. Tie? yes. Trailer? Yes. Clip? yes.  Trim Feet? yes. Bathe? Loves it

Other comments:  Ribbon is a beautiful girl, and has a tremendous heart.  She is very social and friendly, both to people and other horses.    She is about 300 pounds underweight (vet said she weighed 640 when seized) so she has a long rehab road ahead of her…but she’s got the spark back in her eyes!!!!
