Temperament: Orchid is a very loving girl and has become quite the “Daddy’s girl” in her foster home. She has a funny relationship with her foster Dad and they “talk” and understand each other quite well. She has learned to be patient at feeding time and her ground manners have improved tremendously. She is very easy to catch and saddle and has been ridden by a fairly experienced 10 year old girl with no major issues. She can be stubborn when being ridden by a beginner but is wonderful being lead around with a child riding. She has never bucked or even hinted that she would. If allowed, she just turns and walks back to the barn when she gets done. (Even if you are not)

Physical problems / health issues: Has some opacity to one eye, but can see out of it with no problems. She seems to see fine and it is no problem. Her mouth (teeth) were checked again after coming to her foster home and she has no issues with her teeth. She will now take a bit with no problem.

Interaction with horses: She is with 2 geldings and is in the middle of the herd. She gets along with them great. She will pin her ears back at the low man (a big paint gelding) at feeding time but has never nipped, kicked or tried to hurt him.

Interaction with people: She LOVES people. She will come up to you if you come to the fence. She LOVES to be brushed and have her neck scratched. She always makes sure she is getting her fair share of brushing when her family is out there. She does very well with kids, dogs and cats under her feet and around her. When she first came, she would not allow the farrier to work on her back feet. She never kicked, just pulled away and moved off. She has now improved to the point of just being told “quit” if she starts to pull away and will stand still and allow him to work.

History: Unknown.

Training / abilities: She is broke to ride and easy to saddle. She stands quiet for mounting.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Beginner/child for lead line and on the ground. Intermediate for riding.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? No. Bitten? No. Other? No.

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Lead? Yes. Tie? Yes. Trailer? Yes. Clip? Unknown. Trim Feet? Need a little patience with back feet, but improving each time. Bathe? Yes.
