Temperament: When Noel came to HfH, she was doing her best to walk around on a horribly overgrown rear hoof with many abscesses causing her great pain.  Since her surrender in lieu of seizure, her struggle to live was long and very painful but she didn't give up on life and she pushed through her pain until after 18 months of intensive, loving care, she turned the corner and is once again pain free.  You can literally see her joy through her bright eyes, perked up ears and body carriage. No longer uncertain about her future, she again runs like the wind and is playful as a young filly.  Because she has been handled and doctored so much, she is extremely gentle and easy to handle.  Noel is a joy to have and a very loving, appreciative horse

Physical problems / health issues: When Noel came into HfH, she had very sad eyes.  Her rear hoof was very long and the hoof itself had grown into the frog of her foot.  She could not completely extend her rear leg while standing and therefore she compensated for her injury causing her constant pain and intermittent swelling.  She is past those problems now, but she will never be ridable.  However, she is now ready to be your loving companion horse.  When that happens, we know you will treasure her.

Interaction with horses:  Noel has adopted a succession of three colts, bonding with each younger horse and acting as their surrogate mother.  Whenever Noel has to rest, her colt never leaves her side, literally standing guard over his adopted mother.  She lives in a pasture with her gelding, another mare, a mini donkey and two llamas.  Has no trouble whatsoever with these animals and is somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Interaction with people:  This girl gives lots of love and affection.  She has nice ground manners and was obviously handled in the past, never showing any aggression.  She loads and unloads wonderfully and travels quietly.  She is a joy to have around.

History:  Noel was surrendered in lieu of seizure, and obviously, her care was badly neglected.

Training / abilities: Noel is a little shy, but mostly comfortable around people.  She has lovely ground manners, and is accustomed to being handled frequently.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Advanced beginner, since she’s a bit shy

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes Lead? Yes Tie? She stands tied for long periods of time due to prior treatment for her feet. Trailer? Yes, very well Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Excellent.  She has had to endure a lot of treatments on her feet. Bathe? Yes

Special needs: Noel is a very special mare, with an incredible heart.  After all that she has been through, Noel needs a home that will love and care for her the way she deserves.
