Temperament: Nigel is sweet and not at all mean or aggressive.

Physical problems / health issues: Nigel has a locking stifle on the back right leg that gives him a hitch when he walks but doesn’t seem to slow him down or cause great discomfort.

Interaction with horses: He does fine in a large mixed herd.  He is everyone’s friend.  He is tolerated by the more aggressive horses and friendly with the older ones.

Interaction with people: Nigel likes people but at the same time is fearful of them due to past abuse.  He is cautious.  He will come up to you but will not hang around very long.  He will take a treat with his neck stretched as far as he is able to reach.

History: He has a history of being severely abused.  Part of that abuse was being tied to a tree and hit with a baseball bat.  We believe this explains his timidity with people.

Training / abilities: We do not know if he has had any training but with his injured leg and small size, he is not rideable.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Experienced.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? Yes, when he was pushed hard and felt trapped Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes, if you are patient and move slowly Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Yes, front feet but not the back.  He is scared of the farrier’s tools Bathe? Not fond of baths

Special needs: MSM/Glucosamine supplement for his stifle problem.

Other comments: Nigel is a really darling little horse.  He is still friendly despite his previous abuse.  He needs a calm, gentle, patient handler who could work with him individually and bring him around.  He could be an excellent companion and a really cute lawn ornament.  Nigel is an easy keeper
