Temperament: Little Joe is inquisitive and sweet.

Physical problems / health issues: Due to malnourishment, Little Joe has rickets and the condition is permanent according to the vet.  His knees touch and his feet splay out.  He is also very small for his age.

Interaction with horses: Gets along well in a small mixed herd.

Interaction with people: He is leary of people but once he is caught, he is fine.

History: Seized and awarded to HfH.

Training / abilities: Little Joe has not had any formal training.  A patient person can slowly lead him.  His foster family is working on having him give up his hooves.  This is not easy for him due to his physical problem.  He may not be rideable since he has trouble backing up.  He stands still for grooming but is not entirely sure he likes it.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Experience with training young horses

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Not easily; you need a lot of patience Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Hesitant; easier if he is not the only horse Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Working on learning to stand Bathe? Unknown

Special needs

Other comments: Little Joe will probably always be little and most likely a nice pasture ornament.  If he turns out to be rideable, it will be limited.  When he is startled, he tends to back up and trips because of his conformation.
