“These assessments are based on how these horses respond in their current environment and any change in their current environment, riders, diet, etc could have an effect on the horses' immediate performance. Horses need time to adjust when moved to new surroundings. We highly recommend you visit, spend time with the equines and evaluate the equine before making a decision"

Explain overall socialization: Bud is dominant in a pasture with a 15 year old gelding, a 13 year old mare, and a 20 year old mare.    He is dominant but not aggressive.    The 20 year old mare has always been very submissive to other geldings, but when we introduced Bud in April 2009, she and Bud paired up!

Explain manners: He is very sweet but has never been taught how to respect your space (He is not aggressive or mean though).   He is around my young children daily and does great with them.  He is very inquisitive and sweet but his manners need to be improved (which we work on).

He has turned his butt to me when I tried and spray him with fly spray, but will allow it (with a strong hand) once haltered.   We are working on this too. The trimmer I use will work him a minute (to gain his respect) before starting on his feet (and during if needed).  He has gotten better and better with each trim.   He lets us mess with his feet (pick) while he is eating and has no problems, it is just when it “takes too long” he gets a little frustrated.

Explain overall training:  Bud has had no riding training that we are aware of.  We have put a saddle blanket on him without incident and my husband has mounted him bareback without incident while Bud was eating. My trainer spent an hour and a half with him evaluating him and introducing him basic leading and ground manners (which will need to be reinforced.)  It was at this training that we noticed he appears to be gaited.

Explain history if known:  Seized from a multi-horse seizure.   He was caught in barbed wire for 2 days when he was about 2 years old.  During this accident he lost his eye and castrated himself.  The vet sewed his sheath shut and finished the job and now he drops behind his sheath.
