Temperament: Marlena was alone for years so it has taken her time to get used to all of us – to being part of a herd again.  She likes a routine especially her own stall.  She is sweet and you can tell she wants to get close to you but tends to walk away.

Interaction with horses: Marlena does well with the other horses but hasn’t paired up with anyone.

Interaction with people: Marlena doesn’t mind being on her own and she continues to learn to trust.  She leaves the barn as soon as her meals are over and heads down the pasture.  While she’s always waiting either at the gate or in the barn for breakfast and dinner she tends not to search you out for attention.  But something happened a couple of weekends ago that led me to believe she wants her own little girl.  A troop of Girl Scouts visited and met all the animals on the farm.  Marlena walked up the pasture and came to me.  I introduced her to the girls and said she’s a little shy and won’t let you get real close.  About that time Marlena walked up to the girls, touched each one and let them love all over her.  I do believe that she once had her very own little girl who she loved dearly.  I hope she finds another little girl who will dote on her as she deserves.

History: Marlena was with her Mom until she was 11.  To the best of our knowledge she was alone with only human interaction until January 2008.

Training / abilities: We will test Marlena soon, weight wise she’s ready.

Physical problems / health issues: None.
