LeRoy
Breed: Appaloosa
Sex: Gelding
DOB: 2004
Height:
14 hh
Color: Sorrel
Markings:
star, striped hooves,
speckled muzzle
Location:
Cibolo, TX Adoption Fee:
$250
Temperament:
LeRoy is a gem. He is
very mild-mannered, laid
back, and respectful
with a great attitude.
Physical problems /
health issues: No
health issues. LeRoy
was very malnourished
when he came into HfH
care but he has gained
pounds and is now at a
good weight. His growth
may have been stunted,
though, and he does not
appear to have very
strong legs. This will
not hamper him for
regular riding but
training him for an
endurance horse would
not be recommended.
Interaction with horses:
LeRoy is out with four
horses and is low in the
pecking order. He plays
and gets along well with
all of them. He can be
intimidated by a very
dominant or aggressive
horse.
Interaction with people:
He is everyone’s
favorite horse. He is
wonderfully sweet
tempered and loves
people. He is very
trusting of humans and
easy to handle.
Although he has not yet
met any children, there
is absolutely no reason
to think that he
wouldn’t like them,
also. He gets along
great with all sizes of
dogs.
History: LeRoy
was awarded to HfH by
the court. His previous
owner had six horses
that he nearly starved
to death. LeRoy was one
of these horses.
Training / abilities:
LeRoy is smart and a
fast learner who is very
responsive. He will be
easy to train because he
picks up on what you
want him to do fairly
easily. He is
level-headed. He is
doing ground work right
now with the eventual
goal of having him
ridden. He is a horse
that you could make
mistakes with but they
won’t come back to haunt
you.
Experience level
required to work with
this horse:
Intermediate or advanced
beginner. He knows
nothing so he really
shouldn’t be paired
with someone who
doesn’t know anything
about training a horse.
Has this horse ever:
Bucked? No
Reared? No
Kicked? No
Bitten? No Other?
Ground handling:
Catch? Yes
Lead? Yes Tie?
Yes Trailer? Yes
Clip? Unknown
Trim Feet? Yes
Bathe? Unknown
Special needs:
None.
Other comments:
LeRoy is getting the
coloring of a
“snowflake” appaloosa.
His coat is a metallic
golden chestnut color
that is quite unusual
and stands out in a
herd. In the sunlight,
he looks like he is
covered in glitter.
Paired with his great
personality, he will
make a small adult or
child a wonderful and
handsome horse.
