Temperament: Katie is a seasoned horse and has great manners. She would be appropriate for any level of handler.

Physical problems / health issues: Due to chronic nasal discharge despite courses of antibiotics, two of Katy's teeth were removed.  Because her sinus' were also affected by the chronic infection of the teeth, she had her sinus' drained and large chunks of "stuff" were removed.  It appeared there was build up in there from many months.  Over subsequent weeks, more drainage occurred and her sinus was flushed daily.  More infection appeared.  The vet had to go back in and remove some tooth fragments and she was again flushed and on antibiotics.  She developed a skin infection at the site on her face where the operation was performed.  All of this has cleared up, but the vet thinks that Katydid simply has a propensity for chronic sinus infections despite the tooth removals.  When she does have discharge, the vet suggested putting her on the antibiotic, tucoprim (goes in her feed), until it clears.   The vet tried putting her on doxycycline, a different antibiotic, but she developed diarrhea.  There is a operation that can be done on her sinus', but at Katy's age, the vet felt it better to have her periodically on antibiotics rather than suffer the complications of an involved surgical procedure.  When there is discharge, any adopter will need to get her on antibiotics.

Interaction with horses: She gets along fine with others, though is dominant in a small herd of a gelding and a mare.

Interaction with people:

History: Donated. Broodmare/pleasure horse in the past.

Training / abilities: Katy is rusty, but well broke, she can still be lightly ridden, despite the sinus issue.  Light riding, ideally, just around the ranch, nothing strenuous at her age.
