Temperament: Junior is very affectionate and sweet, he wants to trust people.

Physical problems / health issues: He is recovering from starvation, lung infection, tick and worm infestation and acute anemia; he is in the process of a complete recovery.

Interaction with horses:  He is isolated but friendly to neighbor horses.

Interaction with people: Junior tries very hard to please his handlers but is still a bit afraid.

History: Donation in lieu of seizure. Junior was very sick and emaciated when law enforcement took him from his owner. According to former owner Junior was born sickly and was attacked by a pack of dogs while very young. He bears these scars on his hindquarters and legs. He is sound and doesn’t seem to have long lasting effects from this. His biggest issue was lack of food and veterinary care while growing up. He is recovering remarkably well.

Training / abilities: Halter broke and fairly easy to handle. Doesn’t know much but very willing to learn anything if approached with kindness and a soft voice and hand.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Intermediate.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? No. Bitten? No. Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Lead? Yes. Tie? Unknown. Trailer? Yes. Clip? Unknown. Trim Feet? Unknown. Bathe? Unknown.

Special needs: He will need continued isolation from mares before and after gelding. Junior would probably get along fine with other geldings in a group if he could be by himself during feeding. He is still quite thin.

Other comments: This is a very tough horse. According to his history he came very close to death more than once and hung on. He was basically left to live or die by his former owner after the dog attack. With good food and care he is growing into a very healthy and appreciative youngster. He is looking for a chance to be someone’s buddy. He is young and could be trained to do just about anything.
