JoeyBreed: QH
Sex: Gelding
Age: born 1986
Weight: 974 lbs.
Height: 15 hh.
Location: Hitchcock, TX
Adoption Fee: in Rehab

Temperament: Calm. Very handsome sorrel with a white blaze and white socks on his hind legs.

Physical problems / health issues: He arrived approximately 150 pounds underweight, but his weight is now normal. He has been diagnosed with "navicular syndrome", and currently we have him shod on the forefeet in custom forged rollover shoes at the recommendation of Dr. Jenkins. Although the shoes are helping Joey lengthen his stride and walk without as much difficulty, he is still experiencing some lameness in the left foreleg.

Interaction with horses: Gets along well with others.

Interaction with people: Easy to approach and handle.

History: His owner had purchased him at an auction in Kirbyville, where, otherwise, he would have been sold for slaughter.
The City of Dickinson objected to his owner keeping him in his backyard, so his owner donated Joey.

Training / abilities: At this time, Joey would make a great companion horse, but he is not yet suitable for riding.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Someone experienced or at least willing to take care of a horse needing veterinary treatment.

Has this horse ever: Bucked? Reared? Kicked? Bitten? Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Lead? Yes. Tie? Yes. Trailer? Yes. Clip? Trim Feet? Yes. Bathe?
