Temperament: Jazz did not have much handling prior to coming into foster care, but is still very trusting and willing. She wants to please her handler.  She has a very sweet nature and has really blossomed with some daily handling. She has nice manners.

Physical problems / health issues: On arrival the vet stated that Jazz was 150-200lbs under weight and her growth had been permanently stunted.

Jazz has a fallen fetlock (left rear) that the vet examined when she came in initially.  He determined that it she had an old bone fracture to the lateral splint bone that has long healed.  Some old tendon damage is apparent also.  X-ray's revealed no pathology to hoof/foot bone structure.

Early in the summer of 2008 she completely tore her deep flexor tendon (same one that always was injured but before it was just ripped and now it's ripped apart). After doctoring her and for a few months having a special shoe on her she is back the way she was. I was told she may actually be more comfortable now that it's completely torn. So she is basically a healthy beautiful girl who has a severely fallen fetlock that doesn’t cause her any pain. She needs frequent farrier visits to keep that toe in check as it tends to elongate quickly.

Interaction with horses: She gets along fine with others. She's out with a gelding and some donkeys and likes them all.
