Temperament: Janey is calm and laid back.  She has been known to pin her ears when being handled on the ground but has never followed through with anything further.

Physical problems / health issues: It is hard to keep weight on Janey.  She is a classic thoroughbred and they are generally not easy keepers.  Janey is also a cribber but does not crib at all with her collar on. 

Interaction with horses: Out with a large mixed herd but her special friend is Eve.

Interaction with people: She can be somewhat pushy if she thinks she can get away with it.  She has been handled by children and she is fine with them but has been known to take advantage of the situation if it suits her.  Sometimes she forgets her size and will walk on you.  She just needs guidance since she has not had a lot of handling. 

History: Surrendered by owner who could not give her the care she needed.

Training / abilities: Janey is nice to ride.  She neck reins and is calm enough under saddle to be ridden in a pasture where there are other horses loose watching what is going on.  She is a little lazy and somewhat barn sour but her rider can help her overcome these minor flaws.   

Experience level required to work with this horse:  Advanced beginner.

Other comments: Janey came into HfH care starved.  She has a habit of kicking out when she eats even if she is alone in her stall with no one bothering her.  We think it is because she remembers having to fight for food in her previous situation.
