Temperament: Spirited and loves people. Spooks easily, loves to run, but easy to handle on the ground.

Physical problems / health issues: India’s left front foot has a slight club. It’s not obvious and doesn’t appear to present any problems. She is severely allergic to Yohambine, but otherwise her health is fine.

Interaction with horses: In a previous foster home, India was the dominant horse. However in her adoptive home, she settled into third place of four, and was happy there. At first she was very close to the other horse who came from the same foster home (Biscuit), but later “turned” on Biscuit as she buddied up to the two Geldings. Recently however she and Biscuit resumed their previous closeness.

Interaction with people: When India was adopted, she was easy to catch, lead, saddle, and ride. However over the months, because she was not handled much, she became more difficult on all fronts, popping a lead rope when someone tried to saddle her recently. She is not aggressive at all, but the Arabian in her is skittish around people carrying saddles. India needs some consistent riding to get back to where she was before, with someone who can be patient and get her past her fears.

History: Relinquished from an adopter who did not have the time to work with her enough, and wanted a quieter horse for kids.

Training / abilities: When India was adopted, she was a little green. She was very responsive, and was learning to neck rein. In her adoptive home, she was not worked with much, and has lost some ground with training. But she should be able to come back to where she was with consistent work. India loves to run, with or without a rider, so she is not suited for someone inexperienced.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Intermediate.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? No. Bitten? No. Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Used to be easy but is becoming increasingly difficult. Lead? Yes. Tie? Yes. Trailer? Unknown. Clip? Yes. Trim Feet? Yes. Bathe? Unknown.

Special needs: Allergic to Yohambine.

Other comments: India has a wonderful spirit and is spectacular to watch as she races across the pasture. She really needs someone who can work with her regularly. Whoever has the time and energy will be richly rewarded with this beautiful and fun horse. We would like to see her stay with her on-again, off-again best friend Biscuit, if possible, as they seem to have a bond that has continued as they change homes together.
