Ida Lee
Breed: BLM Mustang
Sex: Mare
DOB: 1987
Height: 14 hh
Color
: Grey
Markings: None
Location: Fredericksburg, TX
Adoption Fee: $100

Temperament: Ida Lee is a sweet wild mustang from the free range lands of the western U.S.

Physical problems / health issues: None.  She is a very healthy 22 year old horse.

Interaction with horses: Ida Lee has a herd of horses as her companions.  She is socially advanced with other horses because of her background of living in a wild herd.  She probably follows the herd hierarchy by bonding with the other mares in her herd and dealing with the geldings diplomatically.

Interaction with people: She has not been handled by people.  She lives on open land and has little human contact.  Human companionship is not something she is looking for but she needs someone to look out for her and see to her needs.  She will eat treats if they are thrown to her but will not come up to people for them.

History: Ida Lee and her mother, Eula Mae, were seized from people who had adopted them from the BLM and then starved them both.  Both gained back their weight but Eula Mae suddenly died, probably from age related issues.  Ida Lee was devastated since her mother had been her constant companion.  Ida Lee has recovered from that trauma and now lives in a very large pasture with other horses.

Training / abilities:  Ida Lee has had no training at all.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Beginner if you are going to let her live as a wild horse in a large area.  If an adopter wants to try training her, she will need an experienced trainer.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? Yes, when frightened Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? No Lead? No Tie? No Trailer? Yes, loaded freely Clip? No Trim Feet? No Bathe? No

Special needs: Ida Lee needs a large pasture with at least one horse companion to live out her days with.  She was taken from the wild and has seen much hardship and pain.

Other comments: If you have a wide open space and some equines to be her buddies, please consider adopting this horse.  She has been let down by the BLM, by her previous owners, and then she lost her mother.  She deserves a special forever home to live out the rest of her days.
