Temperament: Helen is smart and personable.  She is lacking confidence but the right person can easily give her this.

Physical problems / health issues: Blind in one eye from some kind of trauma.  Her eye is recessed and clouded over but the vet says there is no reason to remove it; the nerves are intact.  The blind eye does not bother her but she will startle if she is not aware that you are on that side of her and suddenly hears you.  No other physical problems; this is a very well built and healthy horse.

Interaction with horses: Helen is in the middle of her small herd.  She gets along fine with the others but will defend her food if someone else tries to take it.

Interaction with people: Helen loves people and her favorite kind of person is someone that offers her a treat.  She loves to be brushed and stands quietly when someone pays attention to her.

History:

Training / abilities: Helen lunges on her good side.  She stands well for a saddle to be put on but it is hard to get a bit in her mouth.  She knows no voice, leg, or rein cues.  She was said to be trained but her current foster has seen no evidence of this training.  She is smart and can be easily trained once you gain her trust.  She could benefit from a professional trainer.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Experienced.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes, sometimes difficult though  Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes, goes in just fine but does not want to leave  Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Yes Bathe? Unknown

Special needs: Helen needs a person who she can bond with who will give her love and confidence to reach her potential.

Other comments: Helen is an absolutely stunning Quarterhorse.  She would be top dollar but for her eye problem.
