Temperament: For an 8 yr old stud, he seems pretty calm. He enjoys attention, doesn’t care too much for treats, preferring to gobble green grass. He is a bit mischievous and likes attention from everyone, adults and children.

Physical problems / health issues: Flip is about 75 lbs underweight, per the vet. He’s currently about 200 lbs. Other than that, he is doing well.

Interaction with horses: Since he is a stud, he is being kept separate from the rest of the herd. He frequently calls to them and will pace his fence in a slightly agitated state. That will pass within 30 days of his gelding.

Interaction with people: So far, Flip has readily accepted all humans from adults to young children. He seems more interested in eating than playing right now but has not shown any aggression towards anyone. He gets along well with the dogs and cats also.

History: Unknown.

Training / abilities: Flip behaves as if he has been shown at halter in the past. We don't know what training he may have had, but we will assess that after he's gelded.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Novice, once he is gelded.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? At the dog, but the dog deserved it! Bitten? No. Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Sometimes. Lead? Yes. Tie? Yes. Trailer? Yes. Clip? Unknown. Trim Feet? Yes. Bathe? Unknown.

Special needs: Needs additional nutrition to gain weight, needs to be gelded. Should not be turned out 24/7 on green grass right away.

Other comments: Per complete vet exam on 06/13/07; he is in good health except for being slightly underweight, sound with no apparent lameness issues, heart and gut sounds are good, eyes, ears, respiration, circulation all good, teeth need a light float – this will be done when gelded. His feet are in good shape, and his mane, tail and coat look good.
