Temperament: Emma is a wonderfully sweet mare, and is good with everyone, especially with kids. She loves attention, and loves to be one-on-one with a person. She is a character, and is a bit feisty in her own way. She is also very classy, and likes to be groomed and doted over (she looks very cute with braids in her mane!) She has the warmest, liquid brown eyes that will just melt your heart! Emma is a wonderful and sweet companion!

Interaction with horses: She is usually pleased to be at the bottom of the herd, and will attach herself to one horse. She’s very good in a herd and does not cause any trouble. Emma should not be in a herd with horses that would run her a lot, due to the leg problems mentioned above.

Interaction with people: Emma Jean isn’t picky when it comes to people. She especially loves kids, and wouldn’t mind having one to love on her all day! She likes being groomed and bathed, and you will win her heart if you have cookies!

History: She was found in a muddy pasture with a dead gelding, and she herself was close to death due to neglect. Her tail was chopped off just below the tailbone and her tail is still short. She has made an excellent recovery in rehab and does not exhibit any negative mental scars.

Training / abilities: She cannot be ridden due to irreversible leg problems. But is excellent on the ground and causes no problems.

Physical problems / health issues: Emma Jean’s suspensory ligaments are calcifying very slowly, so she cannot bear the weight of a rider and cannot go faster than a trot. She had a large abscess in her front hoof, which has healed, but will always need an eye kept on it.  But despite this, Emma Jean has surpassed all expectations by doing so well!  Her condition is irreversible, permanent and progressive in that she has calcifying ligaments and tendons.  But, she continues to do very well.  Of course she limps at all times, and her mobility is limited, but she enjoys her friend, her food, and petting and attention.  Emma Jean is a charming horse, very friendly and sweet.

Experience level required to work with this horse: She would be excellent for a beginner on the ground, due to her super sweet attitude. She’s fairly easy to care for, and is not picky about anything. She loves to be doted over!

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes Clip? Yes Trim Feet? Yes Bathe? Yes

Special needs: Emma Jean is on a "senior diet" consisting of senior, alfalfa and free choice coastal.  Her legs can get sore from time to time, and she had a major abscess (which has healed), but both need an eye kept on them.
