Daphne is a very laid
back older horse. She
is calm and has an
endearing deep, raspy
nicker. Her nickname is
granny because it suits
her.
Physical problems /
health issues:
Daphne has a chronic eye
irritation in her right
eye that needs
antibiotic drops. She
also wears a fly mask in
the summer months. Her
back is slightly swayed.
Interaction with horses:
Gets along well in a
large mixed herd. She
does best away from the
more aggressive horses
and prefers quiet horses
to hang out with.
Interaction with people:
Daphne is relatively
friendly. In a pasture,
she will not come over
to greet people but will
not run from them if
they approach and want
to pay attention to
her. She visibly
relaxes when you rub on
her face, neck, and
shoulders. She is
exceptionally polite and
well mannered when being
worked with. Treats are
always a good way to win
her over.
History: Part of
a seizure in Walker
County and awarded to
HfH with her filly
Nadine and another
horse. She appears to
have been used as a
broodmare.
Training / abilities:
Daphne is not rideable;
she is an older mare who
has had no formal
training and it is much
too late to begin that
now. She is easy to
catch and halter. She
leads well and will
quietly stand when
tied.
