daleDale
Breed: Arabian / Half Arab
Sex: Gelding
Age: ~12
Weight: ~821lbs
Height: 14
Arrival date: Aug. 2003 (original)
Location: Hitchcock, TX
Adoption Fee: Adopted!

Temperament: Dale is a typical Arabian, head strong but very lovable.

Physical problems / health issues: Dale is in great health but blind in both eyes.

Interaction with horses: He is currently sharing a paddock with a donkey and they seem to get along fine. He has been aggressive with other horses and may need some work in that area.

Interaction with people: He loves attention. Dale has adapted to his blindness and can find you by following the direction of your voice.

History: Dale originally came to us with another white Arabian who has since been adopted. Both of these horses were tied together in a field with no hay or water and tethered by a wire to a log. Dale was blind in one eye probably due to blunt force trauma and malnourishment. Dale was once adopted, used as a show horse but was returned. Shortly after Dale arrived he went blind in the other eye. Dale was diagnosed with Moon Blindness.

Training / abilities: Dale is ridable and has even been shown. He can get there again if the right individual takes the time and patience to work with him. He will make a perfect project horse with lots of rewards.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Very experienced. The adopter must be patiently and consistently working with Dale. Once a trusting relationship has been established, where Dale has total and complete trust for his human partner, we have no doubt Dale can be ridden and shown again.

Has this horse ever: Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? Yes. Bitten? Yes. Other? N/A

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Lead? Yes. Tie? Yes. Trailer? Yes. Clip? Yes. Trim Feet? Yes. Bathe? Yes.

Special needs: Requires lots of time and patience.

Other comments: Dale is very special to us and we want to see him happy and productive again. He loved being ridden and he hates being corralled. He needs a place were he can be safe to roam and graze.
