Temperament:   Cyrus is a likeable kind of guy who just needs someone who can understand his point of view.  He is easy to be around, but tends to be a little bull headed if you are leading him and he wants to go in a different direction.  I can go in his stall and clean while he is in there eating without any issues.  He is friendly and likes to be petted.

Physical problems / health issues:  Cyrus was recently gelded and other than a slight overbite appears to be healthy.

Interaction with horses:  Cyrus is the alpha, dominant horse in the herd.  He gets along fine with all of my geldings with the exception of the one who was on the top of the pecking order before Cyrus arrived.  We now keep these two separated.

Interaction with people:  Cyrus is friendly and has shown no signs of a bad temperament.

History: Cyrus was relinquished to Animal Control in Greenville, Texas

Training / abilities: I am assuming that Cyrus is not broke to ride since he is barely halter broke.  We are working on his halter skills, but I see no reason why he couldn’t be broke to ride.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Experienced horse person who can further his halter skills and general ground training.  As stated above, I see no reason why Cyrus couldn’t make a nice riding horse, but it will take someone experienced with starting horses from the ground up.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No  Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes Lead? Sort of, but needs work Tie? Unknown Trailer? Yes Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Unknown – this is something we will be working on Bathe? unknown

Special needs: Cyrus has no special needs.

Other comments: Cyrus is very interested in mares, so he will need to be kept separated from them for quite a while as he was just recently gelded.  Cyrus is also the dominant horse in the herd and he will fight to keep that status, so a pasture mate who is a compliant gelding would be the perfect match for him.
