Training Journal/Blog: http://horseproblemstexas.spaces.live.com/?_c11_BlogPart_BlogPart=summary&_c=BlogPart

Additional Video:  http://horseproblemstexas.bravehost.com/

Temperament: Cy is extremely sweet and wants to be good; however, he is very fearful, and once he gets scared he goes into flight mode and will not calm until he has left the situation.  Then he will basically stand and shake.

Physical problems / health issues: None known.

Interaction with horses:  Cy is on the bottom of the pecking order and is very passive in the pasture.

Interaction with people:  Very fearful of people.  Extremely head shy around the chin area.  He wants to be friendly but is scared.  He does love to be hosed off in the heat and will stand in the pasture without a halter to be sprayed with the hose.

History: Donation.

Training / abilities: Being assessed at this time.  Currently having ground work and desensitizing done while trying to get him to trust.

I am just too darn proud to not share!!!

What a heart of gold this boy has!!!!  He has been worked with consistently for 17 days…. I had the farrier & vet out yesterday, and that boy stood quietly.  He never thought about kicking out, and when the vet came, he let her pet him all over, and even pull coggins and give shots without even flinching!!  If you get a chance, please take a look at his website.. we took pictures of yesterday-

http://horseproblemstexas.spaces.live.com/default.aspx

The first couple of pictures are of Top (trainer) practicing picking up his feet and leading him by his chin- someplace that was totally off limits until recently- the bottom ones are of Joe Salaman (farrier) and Dr. Shreve (vet) feeling inside his mouth, and giving shots..

He has made so much progress, it is really amazing.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Experienced to professional.  He requires a lot of patience and understanding at this point.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked?  Reared?  Kicked?  Bitten?  Other?

Ground handling: Catch? No. Lead? Yes. Tie?  Trailer? Yes.  Clip? Trim Feet? Front feet only at this time.  Bathe?  Yes.

Special needs: Cy will need a lot of work before he is ready to trust people.  He has come a long way but still needs intensive work and a lot of love and understanding.

Other comments:  Cy is a gorgeous horse who, when he trusts, will make an excellent hunter type mount.  More than likely he has been ridden in the past.  He has been saddled here, but he shook the entire time I was tacking up.  He has a long road to recovery but is trying very hard.
