“These assessments are based on how these horses respond in their current environment and any change in their current environment, riders, diet, etc could have an effect on the horses' immediate performance. Horses need time to adjust when moved to new surroundings. We highly recommend you visit, spend time with the equines and evaluate the equine before making a decision"

Explain overall Health:  When seized, Claudia had a fractured leg that had been left untreated and it was twisted out instead of straight.  The leg was operated on and her knee was fused.  She is healthy now and the leg will not be a problem in the future.  She may get arthritis in the joint but that is worst-case.  She needs a farrier that understands that she cannot bend that leg and will work with her to trim it.  Trimming off a board is an option that has been used successfully with horses that have this problem.  She is young and strong and her overall health is excellent except for her fused leg.

Explain overall socialization:   When first seized, Claudia was extremely fearful of people.  Since that time she has made a complete turnaround. Claudia loves attention and is friendly to people, especially those with treats.  She gets along well in a large mixed herd and her leg does not slow her down with other horses.  She is not dominant in the herd.

Explain overall training:  Claudia cannot be ridden due to her fused leg.  She can walk, trot, canter, and run just fine and will keep up with any horse she is in a pasture with.

Explain history if known: When Claudia was seized she could not move normally.  Instead, she hopped.  HfH has helped other horses with this type of leg problem and Claudia was healthy otherwise so she was operated on and can now live a normal companion horse life.
