Chloe
Breed: Thoroughbred
Sex: Mare
DOB: approx 1983
Height: 16 hh
Color: Bay
Markings: None
Location: Hitchcock, TX
Adoption Fee: $100

Temperament: Sweet and docile.  Spunky without being antsy, high strung, or hyper as many Thoroughbreds can be.

Physical problems / health issues: Chloe is a bit swaybacked.

Interaction with horses: She is out with a small mixed herd and is in the middle of the pecking order.

Interaction with people: Once Chloe gets to know you, she is fine.  She can be a bit standoffish at first, though.  She likes treats and appears to have been someone’s center of attention at some point in her life.

History: Chloe was found as an estray in Walker County and was donated to HfH.

Training / abilities: Chloe is broke to ride but is swaybacked and elderly so riding is not advisable.  When she was tested, it was hard to get her to do anything under saddle.  She did not buck or rear but her reaction to most of what she was asked to do was to back up.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Beginner on the ground.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes; occasionally not easy Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Yes Bathe? Yes

Special needs: Chloe is a messy eater and does not chew whole grains well so does best on a diet of pelleted food and free choice hay.  When flies are active she needs a mask because her eyes will water when they get on her face.

Other comments: Chloe is a very high class Thoroughbred with a coat like polished glass.  She does not like dogs very much.  She is also very protective of her food and lays back her ears at other animals if they are near when she is eating so separation when feeding is advised.
