“These assessments are based on how these horses respond in their current environment and any change in their current environment, riders, diet, etc could have an effect on the horses' immediate performance. Horses need time to adjust when moved to new surroundings. We highly recommend you visit, spend time with the equines and evaluate the equine before making a decision"

Explain overall socialization: Casey is a friendly, sociable horse who probably has had no formal training. He is a little shy about having his head touched, but not overly so. He just needs some solid reassurance that nothing bad is going to happen to him when his face is touched. Casey was a stud when relinquished to Habitat for Horses and was gelded shortly after arrival at my place. He has never exhibited any stud-like behavior and doesn't express any interest in the mares in our neighbor's pasture adjacent to the pasture in which he resides. He is currently turned out with three other geldings and is about third in the pecking order.

N/A

Explain manners: Casey gets a "C" for easy to catch and easy to halter only in that he is a bit head shy. Consistent work with his head and face should resolve this issue. He needs work on picking up his feet and being fly sprayed. The one time Casey was loaded was when we picked him up and he relunctantly loaded with another horse in the trailer. This was into a two horse straight load trailer with a ramp. Casey has never offered to kick. I am unsure about how he ties, but the story we got was at his previous home he was staked out in someone's yard, so he probably does tie.

Explain overall training:  As far as I know, Casey has had no formal training. He is a very compliant, affable fellow and should be easy to work with.

Explain history if known:   Casey was relinquished to Animal Control along with another horse and donkey. They had all been staked out in someone's yard and were underweight and in need of basic care, (worming, shots, hoof care, teeth, etcetera). I don't think Casey was abused, just neglected.
