Temperament:  Casey is a very sweet boy who was initially thought to be a young, growing boy, but now know he is an adult, probably around 6 or 7.  He is about 12’2” which probably qualifies him as a pony.

Physical problems / health issues: Casey was recently gelded (3/23/09) and is recovering from that.  He is picking up weight and appears to have no other health concerns.

Interaction with horses:  Casey is a friendly, compliant horse that seems to get along with everyone including a more dominant horse.  Having recently been gelded, he may need to be kept away from mares (especially mares in heat) until he figures out he’s a gelding.

Interaction with people:  Casey loves to be petted and scratched.  He is not pushy and leads well.

History: Casey was relinquished to Animal Control in Greenville, TX.

Training / abilities:  Casey is a bit of an unknown as far as training goes, but my guess is that he is not broke to ride.  He is a compliant horse and will probably take well to training.  I’ll know more about him in the upcoming weeks.

Experience level required to work with this horse:  For a pasture ornament, Casey would probably do well with someone who has a little experience with horses.  For a riding companion, he will need someone who has started horses and can train Casey under saddle.  Due to his small size, a smaller framed adult would be ideal for him.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No  Reared? No  Kicked?  No  Bitten? No  Other?

Ground handling: Catch?  Yes Lead? Yes Tie? unknown Trailer? Did fine in a two horse straight load trailer after a little bit of convincing.  Clip? Unknown Trim Feet? Unknown Bathe? Unknown

Special needs: None known.

Other comments: Casey is a very sweet boy who will be especially striking when he sheds out and puts some weight on.  That won’t take very long as he has already started putting the pounds on and, after several days of worming, has started really shedding.  I will update Casey’s bio as I get to know him a little better.  I will start working on picking up his feet and will get those trimmed as soon as he’s ready for that.
