Temperament: Button is very easy-going. She is a little reluctant to be caught, but she comes in for breakfast, and once in her stall, she is accommodating. She is very sweet and knickers for her food.

Physical problems / health issues: Button can no longer eat hay, she just had dental work. She has missing teeth, and the rest are worn. She’s doing very well on Purina’s Ultium, which has a very high fat content. She also has a soaked mixture of alfalfa cubes and beet pulp that she eats throughout the day when she is in her stall. She needs to be kept in so she can eat without others taking her food. She will need to be kept apart fron others during the ady in the summer and stalled at night during the winter. She grazes when she needs this extra in order to keep her weight.

Interaction with horses: She does well in the herd, but is food aggressive. Once she has eaten her fill, she is fine with others.

Interaction with people: Button is very easy to handle, tack up, groom, etc.

History: Button is from the Hunt Co. Seizure of 75 horses, and she was very malnourished. She is now a 4.5 body score, and climbing.

Training / abilities: Button was recently ridden, and was very quiet. She must have had some training. She is very comfortable to ride, but not very good steering. We have not yet tried a canter, or being out with another horse. She is older, so light riding or short trail rides only. Her galloping days should be over.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Beginner.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? No. Bitten? No. Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Not too bad. Lead? Yes. Tie? Yes. Trailer? Yes. Clip? Don't know yet. Trim Feet? Yes. Bathe? Yes.

Special needs: She must be kept on the beet pulp and alfalfa mixture to keep weight on, as she cannot eat hay.
