Bay Shadow
Breed: Quarter Horse
Sex: Mare
DOB: 1984
Height: 15.1 hh
Color: Bay
Markings: Blaze
Location: Brooksmith, TX
Adoption Fee: $350

Temperament: Bay Shadow is a sweet mare with great manners and no vices.  She can be headstrong at times but is not mean about it.

Physical problems / health issues: She has arthritis and there is some popping in her left rear fetlock that is probably caused by this.  She is on an MSM supplement to help with the arthritis.

Interaction with horses: Bay Shadow is out with a large mixed herd and gets along but prefers to keep to herself.

Interaction with people:  Wonderful with both adults and children.  She loves treats and attention.  At feeding time, she will come from the far side of the pasture when you call her name.

History: Seized by law enforcement and awarded to HfH.

Training / abilities: Bay Shadow is dead broke and rideable by anyone including young children.  However, her riding days and the length of rides are limited by her arthritis.  She is done being pushed; her best gait is a walk.  Bay Shadow is said to have been a show horse trained in English riding.  She does not neck rein.  On trails she prefers to be with another horse but she does not spook.

Experience level required to work with this horse:  Beginner.

Has this horse ever:  Bucked? No Reared? No Kicked? No Bitten? No Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes Lead? Yes Tie? Yes Trailer? Yes Clip? Yes Trim Feet? Yes Bathe? Yes

Special needs: She is fed daily about six pounds of senior feed and an MSM supplement.

Other comments:  Bay Shadow is looking for a forever family to love and take care of her.  She is a pleasant horse and worth the extra effort.  If she is ridden, the rider needs to be light weight and go for a brief ride.  She would be good for a family who wants to teach their children about horse care.
