Temperament: Super friendly, smart, and playful.  Baylee loves people
and thrives on attention.

Physical problems / health issues: Baylee had knee surgery in January 2007 (her story can be found here: http://www.habitatforhorses.org/stories/baylee.html)When she stood after her cast was removed, she suffered a fracture that went almost completely through the distal end of the humerus (exactly at the left shoulder joint).   The vets refused to give up on her; after three more months of stall rest and a few more months of pasture play, she is now completely recovered.  The vets took x-rays recently and have declared her Perfect!

Interaction with horses: Pushy with her food, but subordinate to another mare currently sharing her pasture.  She plays running games with the two donkeys who are also in the pasture.  She played "alpha mare" with another mare brought into the pasture a few months ago, so introductions should be made carefully.

Interaction with people: Friendly in the extreme (OK, spoiled).  The months of being waited on and fawned over during her long stall rest possibly made her forget she's a horse.  She's kind of like the overgrown kid in your sixth-grade class who didn't know his own strength, and she can play too roughly for an inexperienced handler.

History: See her story here: http://www.habitatforhorses.org/stories/baylee.html.

Training / abilities: While Baylee is easy to catch (she catches you)and leads well, she was being ridden in her former adoptive home and was doing really well.

Experience level required to work with this horse: Intermediate to experienced.

Has this horse ever: Bucked? No. Reared? No. Kicked? No. Bitten? No. Other?

Ground handling: Catch? Yes. Walks right up and bends her neck down. Lead? Yes.  Tie? Yes. Trailer? Yes, very easy. Clip? Unknown. Trim Feet? Yes.  Bathe? Needs work.

Special needs:

Other comments: Baylee has a winning personality and is very affectionate. The exuberance she shows when she's running around in her pasture brings daily joy to her foster-people.  She is a bit of a prankster and is also a thief when given the chance to steal things she can carry in her mouth--halters, lead ropes, spray bottles, hammers, other horses' cookies, etc.  She also loves to play with the water hose while it's filling up her trough.  She will make someone a wonderful equine partner in life!
